Yesterday was my last day at work at Kontagent. It was a good three year run and I have made many friends there. There will be short break while I am searching for the next job.
The last time I have a break between job, it goes a long long time back to 1996. I was an expat working in a small company in Singapore. One day I have decided to quit my job. I packed up my stuff and handed the key back to my landlord. With no commitment and no financial concern, I have embarked on a three months road trip across the South East Asia. This is probably one of the best thing I have ever done. As a young lad who did not need much to live, I could easily afford not working. The new job starts only eight months later after I have transplanted myself to the United States, where I have settled ever since.
There is no such luxury this time. Life seems infinitely more demanding these days. Rather than a relaxing break, it seems I won't have enough time for all the chores needed. I have already lined up an intense schedule of job interviews. Then I want take this chance to spend more time with the kids and take them to schools. I also need to work on the three MOOC classes I have enrolled before I fall too far behind. And there are always a lots of deferred maintenance at my house that need attention.
Let's see how the next few weeks will unfold.
