ActiveSync Not Able To Start

This is one of the many problems I have with my brand new Windows Mobile 5 PDA phone. I found a workaround that may help other people who are also suffering.

Problem: I have installed Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2 on my Windows XP SP2. There suppose to be an green ActiveSync icon appearing on system tray but this never happens for me. If I launch ActiveSync from the Start menu, nothing will happen. Syncing always fail.

Workaround: first manually execute rapimgr.exe (from the "c:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync" directory), then launch ActiveSync from the Start menu. The green icon will show up and syncing will be (partially) successful for me.

I am still stucking with the infamous 0x85010014 problem. After fighting with stupid software for a few weeks I still not able to sync my calendar and contact to the phone. I hate Windows Mobile!

the 85010014 is normaly caused by a probelm with outlook itself. it can be a problem with your outlook profile( make a new outlook profile then create a new partnership) , you need to upgrade to activesync 4.2, or reinstall outlook.
